Verizon Wireless has issued an updated V CAST Song ID application, and also released the utility for many devices which previously did not have access to the service.
V CAST Song ID is a free tool that allows for song identification, simply by holding the phone near a particular audio source. The phone communicates with a server that then identifies the song. Verizon previously charged $.99/song for the service, but now offers it for free. The newer free version ties into the V CAST Music Store, which enables for instant wireless purchasing of a recognized song. The application also offers, at no charge, a free email to a user’s email address with the song identification.
The latest version has been reported to add support for several new devices. To download the application, you need to have the latest firmware installed in your phone. Once updated, the application will appear as an available download in Get it Now > Music & Tones > Get New Ringtones > Get New App.
