Following up on a previous report, Verizon has officially announced the forthcoming launch of LTE data access on its prepaid ALLSET data plans beginning on Thursday, July 17th. The launch of LTE data access also includes the launch of BYOD support for previously activated LTE devices as well as the availability of select 4G LTE devices in the prepaid lineup at lower prices.
ALLSET Smartphone plans start at $45 and include unlimited voice minutes and messaging with international SMS messaging to Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico also being included. Additional data packages known as Bridge Data are priced at $5 monthly for a 500 MB package, 1GB at $10 and 3GB at $25, with unused data carrying over every month. As an additional incentive to purchase data, the 1GB and 3GB packages feature a 90-day duration period for every purchase, making it more economical to purchase the larger data packages to spread costs over time for lighter users.
The Allset plan for smartphones also includes mobile hotspot support, making the above options even more cost-effective, and Verizon will continue to double data for all new smartphone users to 1GB and throwing in 1,000 voice minutes per month for international calls to users on $45 Allset plans when enrolling in auto-pay service. Thankfully, Verizon has also confirmed full access to LTE and its newly launched higher speed XLTE overlay, with no mention of any caps on transfer speeds.
The LG Lucid 3 and LG G2 will also be available online and in stores for $149.99 and $299.99 respectively as part of the launch of 4G LTE access on ALLSET service, along with other selected phones such as the Moto X, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One at to be determined pricing.
