Following up, Verizon has also announced the latest rugged clamshell from Casio Hitachi in the Ravine, which features a Mil spec 810G bodyshell resistant to water, dust, shock, vibration, humidity, altitude, salt fog, solar radiation, and extreme high and low temperatures.
The phone also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and a noise-canceling microphone. The Ravine also includes a suite of apps under the G’zGear brand which includes a compass, walking counter, thermometer, tides, sunrise and sunset times, astro calendar, and star gazer. The phone will be sold for $199.99 after new 2 year agreement before an additional $50 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $149.99.
For the consumer that has no interest in a Smartphone is pretty out of luck. Verizon has introduced 15 Smartphones and maybe 10 – 12 low end phones. They have completely forgot about the customers that want a really nice small, thin durable phone that gets really good reception. The touch screen phones are a pain in the butt if you carry them in your pocket because you accidentally dial all the time plus it is still too big. Has anyone seen anything about any future phones that might fit the bill? Thanks!
