HTC has confirmed that it will launch the All New HTC One starting today in the US, with all four US carriers participating at different levels and launching the device by April 12th. Confirming Sunday’s previous report, Verizon Wireless will begin the US launch by offering the phone for sale immediately via retail, online and Telesales at 1PM EDT, while AT&T and Sprint will be taking pre-orders at that time for a staggered launch between April 11th-12th, as Verizon will also have a 2 week exclusive on the phone until April 9th.
T-Mobile will begin HTC One sales in early April and will not be participating in today’s launch event. Pricing for the smartphone is set at $199 on AT&T and Verizon, $249.99 on Sprint after new 2 year agreements, while outright pricing is set at $649 regardless of carrier.
HTC has also announced a Google Play Edition of the new One. The Play Edition One will be sold directly from Google and can be preordered beginning today in silver only for $699 and is sold without a contract. HTC predicts the device will ship within 10 to 14 days.
HTC has also made its new camera hardware API available to Google so that the Play Edition should be able to take advantage of the two-camera setup employed by the One for 3D shots, although Google hasn’t specifically confirmed what it will do with the HTC camera API access. The Play Edition will support quad-band GSM/EDGE, HSPA+ in the 850/AWS/1900/2100MHz bands, and LTE in the 700/850/AWS/1900MHz bands, with LTE roaming support in the 1800/2600MHz bands.
HTC is also selling an unlocked developer edition of the One, which can be ordered from HTC.com beginning today for the same $649 price as the carrier versions, though the developer version will feature an unlocked bootloader.
