Treo 700wx Crippled, Lacking Bluetooth Modem

Despite Sprint’s announcement that the Treo 700wx supports Sprint’s Phone As Modem offerings, the device is as crippled as its Verizon counterpart. The 700wx, unlike the PPC-6700 which precedes it, refuses to be used as a modem over Bluetooth.

Like the aging Treo 700w, customers will have to add third-party software from PDANet to enable the basic ability to use the device as a modem over Bluetooth. Unlike Verizon however, Sprint touts the ability to use the Treo 700wx as a modem.

Sprint’s previous Windows Mobile flagship device, the PPC-6700, has built-in Bluetooth DUN, allowing for seamless Phone-as-Modem Connectivity.
