After being announced in December, Ting has announced the launch of its long-awaited GSM-compatible service with the rollout of public SIM card sales for its open beta period. The “Ting GSM X1” SIM card is now available for $9.99. The caveats to the GSM service also include no international roaming or international long distance support, but the service is otherwise identical to Ting on Sprint’s network. No mention was made of the availability of domestic roaming on the GSM service or dual-mode access.
