T-Mobile has made even more changes to its Simple Choice postpaid plans by adding international texting and more data for browsing and tethering, but also quietly adds a $10 increase across all plans past the main $50 plan, making unlimited data more expensive in the process.
For the $50/month rate plan for the first line – the data cap doubles from 500 MB to 1 GB. The next tier at $60 also sees an increase, from 2.5 GB to 3 GB for both device data and tethering. The third data tier that currently starts at $70/month for the first line will change from unlimited to 5 GB monthly data access for device data and tethering, although existing customers will be grandfathered and keep unlimited data access for as long as they keep the plan.
Unlimited data for new customers will now only be available starting at $80/month for the first line with 5GB of data for tethering. For additional lines, the data cap is multiplied by the number of lines, meaning that the first line determines data caps for subsequent lines and is not shared.
The new plans also keep the global data and text access and T-Mobile has added even more countries to the offering with Afghanistan, Guam, Honduras, Macao, Uganda, the Canary Islands and San Marino being added to the list, while the newly reconfigured Stateside International Texting offering has now been included on all Simple Choice plans at no extra cost, at a savings of up to $20 a month.
The new plans go into effect later this month for new customers on the 23rd, while No-Contract Simple Choice customers will be able to take advantage of the changes on April 26th and the new additions go into effect for current Simple Choice customers on April 1st.
