As expected, T-Mobile has launched the HTC HD2 after months of anticipation for $449.99 on an Even More Plus service plan, or $199.99 with a 2 year agreement.
As previously reported, the HTC HD2 features a 4.3-inch capacitive WVGA resolution touchscreen display and HTC’s Sense user interface on top of Windows Mobile 6.5 (not 6.5.3).
The rest of the featureset consists of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with a 1GHz processor and 512 MB ROM/768 MB RAM, dualband HSPA/quadband GSM, Bluetooth 2.1 with stereo audio support, Wi-Fi radio and GPS transceiver with A-GPS support.
Rounding out the spec sheet is a compass, G, proximity and light sensors along with a 5.0 megapixel camera with video recorder and dual LED flash.
Im gonna get it! So do you have to get a plan like the android phones or is it more expensive?
Not to crazy over windows mobile but whatever it’s still a great phone.

i just ordered it over the phone today because it sold out in stores so fast. this phone is the greatest thing out. AND I WORK FOR TMOBILE….
lololol kinda unfair…..there were about 10 people behind me in line asking for the hd2….[last one ran out 😀 so they had to be put down]

A correction to the article… The HD2 does indeed have the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM. 6.5.3 is the OS update that supports Capacitive touchscreens, multitouch, Sense UI, and several other features found on the HD2.
Eric, all of the listings state 6.5 for the T-Mobile HD2 as it has not been confirmed whether the update will be or is even available for the device. The device having a capacitive touch display does not confirm the inclusion of 6.5.3 as the Sense UI is also available on other HTC devices running Windows Mobile 6.5 such as the Touch Pro 2 with a resistive display.
If you own the device, I’d appreciate a System Information screenshot detailing the OS version before I make any corrections.
Yeah, the hd2 looks nice. It just makes me want the htc evo even more. Windows mobile ruins this phone unless you have a custom rom. Android is the future now,especially with windows 7 looking so crappy. Put android on the hd2 and I’ll stand in line for days, but leave windows on it and it will stay on the shelf.
I think I will pass and wait for the EVO.

I got it on wednesday. I had a g1 android and the HD2 blows it away. Awsome screen and features! And it doesnt hurt that it has office software to boot! I can write word docs, access my desktop remotely, and so much more. The more I use it the more I like it!
