T-Mobile has become the latest US carrier to announce the forthcoming release of the HTC One for Windows following Verizon’s launch last week and AT&T’s own announcement of a future launch.
The One for Windows Phone is the first Windows Phone 8.1 device that takes advantage of Microsoft’s latest update to Windows Phone that allows the operating system to run on reference Android hardware without additional changes, and will allow for more such device variants in the future. The only features missing from the One for Windows Phone are certain gestures that are only supported on the Android version. Otherwise, this phone is identical to the Android version released earlier this year in terms of hardware, even carrying over some key HTC One (M8) functionality, such as Blinkfeed, the HTC Duo Camera software, Sense TV, Video Highlights, and BoomSound.
