Not long after being placed on the End of Life list despite being released only nine months ago, T-Mobile’s G2 will be the recipient of its last major update in Android Gingerbread. Additions included in the update include user interface improvements, new keyboard, improved copy/paste and network type indicator as well as improved power management for better battery life.

Is this supposed to be news? We all know this we were hoping for 2.3.4 and an actual date!
Generally, an update to Gingerbread at this point would imply the latest branch, 2.3.4. Do not have a timeframe though, sorry.
HTC has since chimed in via social media that they will be “cutting” select apps to meet the requirements for Gingerbread. I suspect this means that some preloaded/junkware apps on certain carriers will be removed. If you have a G2, I wouldn’t be very concerned about this development either way.
