T-Mobile’s ever-present social media presence has confirmed that the carrier has discontinued the Xperia Z3 flagship. As of today, the smartphone is no longer available for purchase from the carrier and the only other official avenue for a US version is buying an unlocked Z3 direct from SonyStyle online for $569.99.
The removal of the Z3 from T-Mobile’s lineup may mean that the carrier is likely preparing to launch the next version of the phone, expected to launch sometime in the next 2 months, in keeping with Sony Mobile’s compressed schedule for flagship smartphone launches.
As T-Mobile is also the only other US carrier to release the Z3 along with Verizon Wireless, it’s also perceived as a weaker smartphone brand compared to Samsung and HTC in the US, whereas Sony Mobile has a much more visible profile in Asia and Europe.
