T-Mobile and HTC have announced the forthcoming launch of the successor to the T-Mobile G1 in the G2. The phone will be available first for existing customers later this month.
The G2 will feature the first implementation of Qualcomm’s MSM7230 chipset codenamed Scorpion which is a variant of the Snapdragon series clocked at 800MHz and featuring an updated GPU. The rest of the featureset consists of Android 2.2, 3.7-inch capacitive touch display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus/LED flash/720p video recording, HSPA+ support, Swype virtual keyboard, and 4GB of internal memory with a preinstalled 8 GB microSD memory card.
