Sprint will release the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition in July and as a
bonus, it will be SIM unlocked to accept overseas provider SIM cards as
well as its own SIM card for those that want to use the same number
here and abroad. Specs are slightly different from the Verizon model
with the noted omission of Bluetooth Dial Up Networking, and microSD
card support limited to a stated 128MB. Otherwise, the device is the
same with dualband GSM/GPRS (900/1800Mhz only) QVGA display, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, media player, and speakerphone.
The device also features autonomous, assisted, and simultaneous GPS
capability for location based services. There will be a teaser page
launching tomorrow with interested customers being able to register for
more information as well. We will update this story with the link when
available.
Update: The teaser page for the 8830 is now online.
