Sprint has begun to roll out another Android Gingerbread update for the HTC EVO 4G over the air. The update features the following additions and fixes to issues with the first update:
Enhancements/Fixes:
– SMS are intermittently sent to wrong and seemingly random contact
– "Me" instead of "Yo" in SMS thread conversations when set to Spanish
– Unable to stream media thru some applications after updating to 3.70
– Email attachments are not displayed in the mail client
– Multiple Gmail accounts no longer sync after FroYo update
– Fix for battery discharge issue
– Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
– Downloads management- The Downloads application gives the user easy access
to any file downloaded from the browser, email,or another application
– Corrects voicemail notification issue (from 4.22.651.2)
– Corrects issue with hearing aid compatibility menu disappearing (from 4.22.651.2)
– Netflix compatibility (from 4.22.651.2)
Sprint also notes that the update should only be applied to phones with the official 4.22.651.2 Gingerbread and 3.70.651.1 FroYo build as the latest version is a bugfix update
As of 1:01EST I still cannot get the gingerbread fix for my EVO 4G
Still no gingerbread upgrade fix as of 1:15 pm est for the EVO 4G. My Netflix still doesn’t work after repeated uninstall and reinstalls
Neflix will not work until you receive the update. Uninstalling and reinstalling is not going to change that fact. Just be patient and wait for the update. As always, if you are rooted, just wait for a rooted version to be available if you don’t want to risk loosing root.
Any idea if it fixes the compass issue?
Why the heck don’t we get the Gingerbread keyboard?!?!?!?! WHY?!
I am a new Evo user, please forgive my lack of knowledge…do I go somewhere to download gingerbread &the updates? Or are they automatically done? Where would I find the info? Thank you

You can manually check for the update via : Menu – Settings – System Update – HTC Software Update

I didn’t get a software update on my EVO, but when I opened my broken Netflix app, it told me there was an update available. It kept failing to download until I turned on wifi. Then it updated and installed the new Netflix app. If you weren’t able to get the Netflix app before the Gingerbread update, it would not show in the market after the Gingerbread update. I still don’t see it in the market. Looks like it may not work because after downloading the new version of the Netflix app, it still doesn’t work 🙁
No update as of 7pm in orlando florida either. WTH is taking so long?
Thank you Ryan for the info on how to get that netflix update, I saw there was an update but it wouldn’t work, I got it through wifi but yeah it doesn’t work yet anyway until we get the update from sprint. Anyone on here getting the Evo 3D?

Heard from the Sprint User forum, that Sprint may have pulled it from the servers. No reason given. Still waiting in Hawaii 1:45pm HST.
Unfortunately, non of these geeks know if and when the fix will drop. They are gonna leave EVO users hanging cause they want you to go out and purchase the 3DO in a couple of days. I wouldn’t hold my breath for this to be fixed until the 3DO is launched.
I’m still waiting for nationwide 4G service….. I mean with Sprint you are constantly in “waiting mode”. I am not going to sit here and take it!

You need to do a little research. Sprint is going to have 4g service nationwide but right now they have stopped as they are going to be switching to lte. So for now the 4g thats out is it for now. Good thing is that they just signed contract with lightsquared and should be moving pretty fast in deploying 4g lte. So for now deciding on a phone cause of 4g is not a good idea.

Again, you have proven my point……once again I am told to “wait” for something cause something else is coming that is “better”. Explain to me why there is a MANDATORY 4G service charge on my bill each month since June 2010???? To hell with doing “research”. I bought the EVO with the understanding that 4G would be forthcoming. Here we are a year later and no 4G. Now, I have some smart ass that acts like he owns Sprint giving me some more initials “4G lte”. Since you know so much, when is a simple update coming to fix the last bs update? You want me to believe that I am gonna get all of this magical service in the future but I can’t even watch a mf’ing movie on Netflix today????? Netflix works with update if u just hit cxl when POP up comes up but still can’t update Netflix itself and still does not show in market either.

Netflix works once system is updated……It said there was an update for Netflix but it did not go thru. And it still isn’t showing in the Market but it works now and that’s all that matters!!
I still don’t have a system update notification…. I apologize to the other users for having to cuss out those two pricks…. However, as you can see, they were out of line and needed to be dealt with immediately. You may see more if they choose to reply with more trash talk. I did not get a notification about the update….I had to check manually. For some reason you need to turn Wi-Fi on before checking for the update. You should be able to watch Netflix once the update goes thru. If you did not delete the app you should have no problem.

I agree with The Truth 100% – why am I paying for 4G service if it is not available? Why does Sprint / HTC release and update that obviously has not been tested thoroughly???? i had to turn my auto update check off then back on and then turn my wifi off and back on and did a manual check and finally i got the update. just play around with it…yeah i hate paying for 4g now but its not worth acting a fool over it yall….good luck yall
Updated to the new software finally, oh and what do you know? Still no netflix. This is bull crap. I got the phone 3 days ago. Thinking about just trading in for EVO 3D when it comes out. Any idea of how to get netflix after update?
It is 3 am on June 21. Just did a manual check and still no upgrade. Sprint lies… they said it was coming June 20. Does anyone in Austin, TX have it yet?
Clear the data for the netflix app on the manage applications settings after the software update and it should work, no problems streaming

Got the update this morning (manual). Installed fine. Didn’t have much time yet but so far:
1. Not a netflix user so don’t know.
2. Compass appears to be working but only tried one app so far.
3. Icon problem going to stock android: NO FIX – but workaround still works (change scenes and then back to your scene)
Gotta get to work – must pay for these expensive phones! More later…
Got update this morning in New Mexico. Netflix not showing up in market. Checked market on PC and it says its not compatible with my Evo. Someone ought to tell the people at netflix to open it up to Evo again. How where they not prepared for this?
