Many Sprint customers are reporting that they have been contacted and informed that they will no longer be able to have Unlimited Vision because they are “overusing” the service, and say that they are using their phone as a modem. They are told they must add a data plan onto their account, or pay by the KB.
Folks, everyone that has been banned downloads almost a gigabyte a month – something difficult to do with even a PDA. Nobody that I am aware of has been banned for light use, or even daily web surfing. Most people admit that they use it as their primary internet connection, even with P2P apps such as KaZaA.
It’s time to know your rights. Sprint has removed the terms that allow them to do this from the Terms of Service, leaving them in the Advantage Agreement only. This is, in my opinion, false advertising. The Advantage Agreement is not the Terms of Service. The only “terms” that are supposed to be in this are terms related to the length of your one or two year commitment with Sprint PCS.
Sprint, in my opinion, is making this clause as hard to find as possible. Not to mention the fact that most Sprint Sales Reps say that you can use your phone as a modem, despite what the Advantage Agreement says.
Now, that said, most people call in and after a few times, with a little sweet talking, are able to get Vision back, usually by re-agreeing to a one-year agreement. If this gets out-of-hand, I will post a more complete guide on your rights, and what to do if you “get the call”. Relax, Sprint is just doing this to make examples of people, and they will give your Vision back to you if they take it away, and you are truly serious about canceling.
