    When?

  2. Christopher Price

The short answer is, when Clear launches this. This is mostly a reaction to our reporting on the Sprint 4G WiMAX launch, it basically confirms future sites will launch concurrently with the Clear dates. So, the dates we already reported indicate not just Sprint 4G access, but Clearwire access as well.

    Still,NO CALIFORNIA!

Remember, without Los Angeles, the most progressive market in the country, it is just a tease!

    Thank You

Calm yourself please. They didn’t promise any California launches this year. They are scheduled to penetrate California with their San Francisco launch in 2010.

    @DP
Would Los Angeles, follow by the 3rd or 4th Q? Sprint used to start new services at San Diego,

    Thank you for sharing!

Sorry, I have nothing tangible to report. I honestly have not read any press clippings that specifically mention Los Angeles. However, I think that we all know that the SoCal market is far too important to simply ignore forever. NYC is already on the roadmap for 2010. I wouldn’t be surprised if LA is added at some point in the near future.

The West Texas markets (Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa) have all already soft-launched on Clear, but no sign of Sprint 4G yet. They are most likely still tweaking while already selling the service as Clear.

What are going to be the first phones to take advantage of 4g?

  9. Christopher Price

I would expect the majority to be Android phones, considering Google’s heavy investment in WiMAX and Clearwire. Windows Mobile already has WiMAX devices, I would expect HTC to manufacturer an American WM superphone or two as well.

    @ JJ

Last month,I asked this very same question from “Escalation”, I was told that:
” there is a large screen Samsung with EVDO + 4G coming soon, it is currently being tested, possibly an Android”.

However, the more important question is your place of resident’s,does it fall into the 4G map of 2009, 3rd and 4th quarters?
Otherwise the purchase of the device at this time, would be rushed.
4G is the next generation for Sprint devices and plan’s, you know that the selection is only going to grow!
I am waiting for the L.A.release, probably not till late 2010 or early 2011!

Regarding the TP2, I was told by Tier2, that it is like a Pentium II machine in a Cell phone, w/6.5 working nicely, btw, the WM 6.1 mod is not stable at all, even at 1X!
Let me know if you have better luck,

    Thank You
