Sony Ericsson announced five new phones today, but only one of them is poised to launch in the United States. Thankfully, the C905a is the most powerful of the phones announced.
The Cyber-shot line has had difficulty being launched in the United States. Multiple models have been scrapped within weeks of being launched by AT&T Wireless. In fact, the only phone from Sony Ericsson to come close, is the Sony Ericsson S710a. While not technically part of the Cyber-shot family (it pre-dates the line), the S710a sports a CCD lens.
While Sony Ericsson has gotten cheaper with their camera sensors (trading CCD in for CMOS), the C905a combines the feature set of the Z750a, with an 8.1 megapixel camera featuring autofocus and face detection. Xenon flash will replace LED flashes in older models.
The C905a also adds in GPS and and TV-Out. Also, a first for the line; Wi-Fi. Sony Ericsson hopes to leverage Wi-Fi with DLNA media streaming, to bypass the need for TV-Out cables, and offer competitive advantage over a standard digital camera.
Sony Ericsson hopes to ship the C905a to North American carriers in the fourth quarter. While the C905a can only work fully on AT&T, Sony Ericsson is developing a non-3G version, the C905c. That version would be most compatible with T-Mobile’s predominantly EDGE network.
any reasons attt wireless would scrape it b4 launch
The K850a was scrapped because AT&T decided to launch the Z750a in its place.
i live in bangladesh. a very small country. its in asia. how can i buy this phone? and i can only buy in cash…so where do i have to pay for it ?
Why would you put UMTS900 on the American version C905a, when America is the only part of the world where UMTS900 is not going to be used!
For international roaming…
But then why would they not have UMTS900 in the European version…
well it turns out it’s actually the American 1900 MHz 3G, not 900 MHz. SonyEricsson site had wrong information.

I have read reviews stating durability on this phone as a con. Can you tell be what the duribility problem is. I need to know this phone will hold up. This is alot of money for something that may not last.
