Sanyo 9000 Specifications
The Sanyo 9000 has received preliminary hardware approval, and sources in Sprint have now confirmed that it has entered software testing and approval. This indicates it will not be available at the launch of EV-DO unless EV-DO is further delayed. This will mark the first time Sprint has launched a 3G network-wide technology without Sanyo.
ARM 9 CPU
QVGA Display
NetFront 3.1
3GPP: QTV 4.7 Decoder, EPSON Encoder
EV-DO
IOTA 2.0, FOTA, DOTA
On other news, some interesting things that don’t make the specs:
The Sanyo 9000, like all EV-DO phones, will have a different Sprint Vision portal. It is not clear if this portal will be ready at-launch. Also, it will support JavaScript & ECMAScript scripting support, a first for Sprint phones. In addition, Java support will be improved with the inclusion of QVM 4.1 (the most recent MIDP 2.0 Sanyo, the 8300, uses 4.0).
There are also indications Sprint has been troubled by VCast’s improved video performance over Sprint TV (VCast uses WMV codecs supported by Qualcomm). Sprint will counter this by adding H.264 Baseline support for Sprint TV, then simulcasting Sprint TV in 3GPP and H.264B.
