During its dedicated media event in New York tonight, Samsung confirmed that its Android 2.2 powered Samsung Tab will be offered by all four major carriers (AT&T/T-Mobile/Sprint/Verizon) as well as offering another version for retail with Wi-Fi only. Also confirmed, no WiMax support on the Sprint version despite being rumored as included.
The Tab currently features a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, triband HSPA support, quad-band GSM, 7-inch capacitive 1024×600 resolution display with multitouch support, Android 2.2, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS support, DLNA media streaming, Flash 10.1, 3.0 megapixel main camera with flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, HD video playback at 1080p and microSD card slot with support for 32 GB cards. Each version of the Tab will be customized for each carrier.
The majority of the event was also dedicated to its Media Hub rental service and content partnerships with movies / TV shows from Paramount, Warner Bros., NBC, MTV as well as its built-in DLNA support on device and an additional dock. Pricing and availability details were not disclosed for any version, with Samsung preferring to leave those to individual carriers and keeping quiet on pricing for the retail Wi-Fi only version.
