Samsung and Google Jointly Announce Galaxy Nexus, Ice Cream Sandwich Delay (Updated)

Samsung and Google have jointly announced that next week’s planned debut and launch of both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Android Ice Cream Sandwich during CTIA have been delayed to an unspecified date before November.

Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

Samsung and Google initially teased the launch of both products in press invites sent last month in the build up to CTIA next week, with the plan to debut both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (nee Nexus Prime)  and Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the next major version of Android meant to bridge the mobile and tablet versions of Android together.

Specifications for the Galaxy Nexus include a first of its kind 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display at 720p, dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos processor with a dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU, 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture and a larger than average 2,050mAh battery with support for GSM/CDMA and LTE, suggesting that the phone  will be launched on Verizon Wireless in the US as the substitution for the Galaxy S II.
