That is true, I have the E71 Nokia from straight talk and it has been the best thing I ever did. Superb 3G service for 45 dollars a month…can’t beat that!

Are you sure that QuickOffice works? I have the same phone and wanted to use QuickOffice, but found that it does not open nor load. I called the customer service rep at ST and was told that the feature is not available through Tracfone. If yours does work, what did you do to get it working? I would love to use mine if I could.

We’ll have to revisit prepaid service again. We tried it a couple of years ago, but found that the “missing features” were a bit more than we were willing to live with . With the major carriers moving towards data caps, there’s no reason that this shouldn’t work for us.

Interesting that the E-71 comes with QuickOffice and a barcode reader. I’m wondering if an bluetooth barcode scanner would work. Ours at http://www.barcodeguy.com works with WMobile, Android, BBerry and Apple iOS, but this looks like it runs Symbian? We should have that interface built by the end of next month. If you can connect a Bluetooth HID to it, it will work though.

My mom has been using Tracfone’s SVC service, is thrilled with the easy phone, coverage and how it’s costing her under $10/month. I’m starting my own small business, and because StraightTalk also falls under the Tracfone umbrella, thought this may be a reliable and affordable (I’m on a tight budget) route to go-your wrap up paragraph seems to confirm this. Anyone using it for business purposes, and are there any major flaws? Also, how well does skype work? Thanks for the really informative article.
