Opera Mini 3, Gmail for Mobile Enter Beta

Today Opera and Google took the wraps off of new Java-based beta applications for cell phones.

Opera Mini 3.0 Beta is the latest version of the popular J2ME web browser. The beta adds support for secure browsing, RSS feed aggregation, and uploading support. The beta is a limited beta, so download the application to your phone as soon as possible.

Google today launched Gmail for Mobile beta, a new way for users to access Gmail. Unlike web browser-based access, Gmail for Mobile is a Java application that enables dynamic access to Gmail. The MIDP 2.0 application reduces the amount of time needed to access Gmail, and stores login information. Google does note that the service is not compatible with T-Mobile service.
