Nokia has released a firmware update for the N95-3, the North American version of the popular N95 smartphone. Firmware version 11.2.009 has been made available on Nokia’s online update service; Nokia Update. However, the update comes without any available change list, it is not known what Nokia has improved with the latest firmware.
The N95-3 is the only variant of the N95 to support UMTS 850 frequencies, enabling proper 3G access in the United States, Canada, and Australia. However, Nokia has elected to only sell the phone through direct channels as an unbranded device. With T-Mobile’s support of UMTS 1700, AT&T is the only carrier that would be able to carry the device officially, and to-date AT&T has chosen not to sell the device.
