During this morning’s earnings call, BlackBerry CEO John Chen officially confirmed the existence and future release of the next flagship for the beleaguered company in the Passport, with an official photo above next to the new Classic also revealed for the first time today.
Previously revealed as the Windemere, the Passport will be officially unveiled at a press event to be held in London and is said to feature a gesture sensitive keyboard along with a tall, square display at 1440×1440, or double the resolution of the current Q10. The Passport is also said to feature flagship specifications with 3GB of RAM and a high-end processor, but more specific details have yet to be revealed and confirmed. The phone will be launched later this year.
Along with the Passport, the BlackBerry Classic was also officially confirmed with the first official image above. The phone is essentially a revised BB7-era BlackBerry complete with the familiar “toolbelt” that so many enthusiasts hold onto as the reson for not upgrading to BlackBerry 10 devices. The BlackBerry Classic will be released sometime in November.
