NetZero Launches Sprint-Powered Mobile Service

By Humberto Saabedra on December 23, 2014

Internet service provider NetZero has quietly expanded its service offerings to include Sprint-powered mobile service. As of today the brand is currently offering service with a selection of smartphones and BYOSD support with current restrictions in place. The service plans are as follows:

  • Basic $25/month – 500 minutes, 1000 messages, 100 MB of high speed data
  • Pro $39/month – unlimited voice and messaging, 1 GB of high speed data
  • Platinum $55/month – unlimited voice and messaging, 2 GB of high speed data

After the monthly data allotments are used, unlimited throttled data is available for the rest of the plan month. According to NetZero,  throttled speeds range between 56 to 128 Kbps.  NetZero is able to activate all Sprint devices with clean serial numbers, save for flagship devices released in the past 12 months. To sell people on the new wireless service, NetZero is also offering a “free” ZTE Fury LTE Android phone after signing up for six months of service at $150, which after adding additional fees on the $25 monthly plan, ends up being $176.95, which includes $6.95 in shipping and handling and a $20 activation fee. The chart detailing the 6-month offer for each level of service before taxes and fees is below, which also includes the service plan lineup:
