Tracfone has apparently decided that Net10 will be the first brand to roll out Verizon BYOD service, despite previous proclamations from StraightTalk reps that the service addition would roll out on its side. Net10 has opened up its dedicated page for the service at (http://net10byop.com/shop-cdma.php) and is selling the required Network Access Codes to activate Verizon CDMA phones for $14.99, plus the cost of airtime at either $50 or $65.
The actual process is straightforward as the page will ask for device details before continuing the activation process as detailed in the below screenshot:
The service is live as of today and the following list should serve as a reference as to what’s OK to activate on the offering, provided the device has not been flashed to work outside of Verizon’s network or is an LTE/CDMA device:
Apple iPhone — Any VZW CDMA model prior to iphone 5
HTC Eris
HTC Incredible
HTC Incredible 2
HTC Rhyme
HTC Merge
HTC Trophy (Windows Phone 7.x)
LG Vortex
LG Enlighten (slide out hardware keyboard-update of the Ally)
LG Ally (slide out hardware keyboard)
Palm Pixi Plus
Palm Pre Plus
Palm Pre 2
Motorola Droid (commonly referred to as the Droid 1) The Droid 1,2, & 3 have slide out keyboards
Motorola Droid 2
Motorola Droid 3
Motorola Droid X (predecessor to X2, slightly lower specs)
Motorola Droid X2
Motorola Droid Pro (portrait keyboard)
Samsung Continuum
Samsung Fascinate
Any/all Windows Mobile phones like HTC Ozone, Samsung Omnia series, Palm Treo Pro
StraightTalk has yet to officially roll out the offering on its end since the first delay late last month, with no immediate word on when it will be available, though some users have been able to confirm that the Network Access Codes for Verizon BYOD are expected to be made available in retail stores at the end of the month. Net10 also has yet to confirm any explicit limitations on data per month or throttling for the offering, considering that many are now activating iPhones on the service today.
Hi, has the Droid 4 been added to this list, do you know?
Many thanks.
