Nvidia, an engineering firm known for developing the modern graphics processing unit and more commonly recognized for designing high-end graphics cards for PC gamers, has announced their intentions to enter the mobile phone space by designing the APX 2500 processor.

The processor is intended to facilitate multimedia consumption by allowing for up to 10 hours of HD playback and 100 hours of audio playback as well as allowing for HD video capture.
The processor was developed alongside Microsoft with the intention to power future versions of Windows Mobile and is currently sampling with major manufacturers, with no further information on availability or devices supporting the processor.
