The FCC has revealed the first pictures of the Motorola C290, a new generation of Motorola’s budget-friendly C-series headed to Sprint. We will be the first to confirm Sprint has given preliminary hardware approval to the C290, finally creating the first 3G Sprint phone by Motorola. The basic Vision phone features an ARM7 processor, basic Vision support, and a Speakerphone.
It is commonplace for Sprint to slowly familiarize phone manufacturers with the Sprint approval process by slowly offering more advanced models. Motorola’s first model since their return to Sprint’s lineup was the V60v, a 3G voice-only phone. This parallels Nokia’s return to Sprint’s lineup, first issuing the 3585i, a basic 3G voice-only phone, followed by the 6225, a basic Vision camera phone.
