Motorola will soon release an over-the-wire software updating solution for GSM/CDMA phones. Software Update is modeled after Sony Ericsson’s software update services, and is actually a thinned down version of Motorola’s P2K service application. The application will detect the model and carrier combination when a phone is connected, then download and update the firmware as needed.
This service will compliment Motorola’s existing software update system for iDEN phones. You can view a demo of the upcoming service at the Motorola Software Update web site.
