Motorola Mobility representatives have confirmed that the device engraving option originally planned to launch with the AT&T version of the Moto X as a part of the Moto Maker customization service will be delayed to an unspecified period after launch after initial testing of the option found quality control issues with the engraving process. Below, the statement from Motorola Mobility on the issue:
“As with all testing programs, we are adapting and changing the process based on what we learn. One item that requires some additional work before we launch is creating a custom signature on the back of the phone. As such, creating a custom message is no longer available at this time.”
Motorola has yet to set a new timeframe for the rollout of the custom engraving service, although the Moto Maker service will otherwise launch as scheduled.
