A sad turn of events for Howard Chui and the 800,000 or so members of his forum, HowardForums.com, as MobiTV has officially sent a cease and desist notice to not only its owner but to the ISP on which HowardForums.com is hosted on. The official post from Howard now has three updates with one pointing to a couple of articles on Digg.com. All this stems from the original post concerning the link to an unprotected text file on MobiTV’s server that contains a list of many more unprotected URLs making available every channel stream for free. This was thought to have been the result of a hack. Josh Andrews, who is serving as Corporate Counsel to MobiTV, has been in correspondence with Howard concerning this matter.
This information was purportedly first available on Sprint’s Forums and just forwarded to everyone else on HowardForums.com. It will be interesting to actually see what will come of this, but in the mean time, support our fellow mobile community website by spreading the news.
Update: The latest news proves to be a good sign for HowardForums.com as the Cofounder and President of MobiTV, Paul Scanlan, personally replied to Howard Chui explaining the reasoning behind his legal teams actions. He further ended his correspondence with, “I look forward to continuing to find interesting and vibrant insights from HowardForums.”
It appears as if all things are good from here on out as MobiTV states that they will be fixing their security issues concerning the content that they offer.
