In an investor conference call today, MetroPCS announced that three existing markets will be upgraded to 1xEVDO data services, and four new markets will be launched with the upgraded data service.
Customers in Dallas, Detroit, and Los Angeles will be upgraded to 1xEVDO high speed service while Boston, Las Vegas, New York, and Philadelphia are the new markets launching with the service enabled in an as yet undisclosed timeframe.
MetroPCS won the additional spectrum to roll out EVDO service in last year’s AWS spectrum auction.
