The first major manufacturer to launch a Firefox OS device outside of ZTE is LG, as it has launched the Fireweb Firefox OS device in Brazil as an exclusive device to carrier Telefonica-Vivo.
The Fireweb features specifications more common to entry-level Android devices, such as a 4-inch screen with a 480 x 320 pixel display, 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 5.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, 2GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot along with Wi-Fi. The phone is being made available for the equivalent of $59 with an agreement or on prepaid, underscoring the low-cost goals with Firefox OS.
LG has not announced plans to release a variant of the Fireweb outside Brazil, while the only Firefox OS device available for purchase in the US is the ZTE Open, via Ebay. Below, an introductory video from Firefox officially introducing the LG Fireweb and the Firefox OS operating system.
