LG has announced the forthcoming launch of its first dual-core Android handset in the Optimus 2X, the first Android device powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 dual-core chipset at 1GHz.
Complete hardware specifications consist of an 8 megapixel primary camera with a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling, a 4.0-inch WVGA resolution display, 8GB of flash memory with a microSD expansion slot along with 1080p video out via HDMI. The Optimus 2X will launch with Android 2.2 with a commitment from LG to roll out Gingerbread as it becomes available.
Launch is set for Korea next month, followed by Europe and other Asian countries in the next few weeks, with no immediate word on a US launch.
