The wireless manufacturer has announced the successful test of its LG Modem Chip demonstrated at its Mobile Communication Technology Research Lab in Anyang, Korea, achieving wireless download speeds of 60 Mbps and upload speeds of 20 Mbps, with a theoretical maximum of 100Mbps download and 50Mbps upload in its current implementation, while LG expects the first wave of commercial handsets in 2010.
The chipset was used in a Windows Mobile device running an on-demand video application while also announcing the development of a preliminary LTE data card.
