Following the International Trade Commission’s findings yesterday against Apple that effectively cleared Nokia of any infringement, the ITC is now willing to hear Motorola’s longstanding complaints against Apple regarding patent infringement.
In a statement the ITC has stated that it “has voted to institute an investigation of certain wireless devices, portable music and data processing devices, computers and components thereof. The products at issue in this investigation are electronic devices such as cell phones, portable music players, and computers."
Motorola had previously filed suit against Apple earlier this year on the basis that the iPhone manufacturer had violated 18 of its patents with Apple unwilling to enter into a cross-licensing agreement, leading to a countersuit by the Cupertino-based company.
