Isis Now Pushing New York City Cab Fare Rebate Incentive To Drive Usage

By Humberto Saabedra on March 6, 2014

Amex-Isis-cabfareFollowing the incentives used by the Wells Fargo promotion in order to drive adoption, the Isis mobile payment service is continuing its push to drive adoption by pushing users to use the service to pay for cab fare in New York City.

The promotion works by giving select American Express card holders (American Express U.S. Consumer, OPEN® Small Business and Serve Card) who register their card with Isis a statement credit when they use Isis to pay for a ride in a medallioned New York City yellow cab. Isis will then credit users back for 50% of the fare, up to a maximum of $100 as an example to demonstrate the ease of use and seeming ubiquity of the mobile payment service. The offer is good until June 1st.

While Isis is free for use and sign up, the service requires a smartphone from a supported carrier in AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless, a SIM card with the required secure element, NFC support, a credit card from a participating financial firm, and the Isis mobile application installed on one of the more than 50 supported Android smartphones. The iPhone requires a separate case which costs $70, is manufactured by Incipio and is authorized by the aforementioned carriers to use Isis.
