HTC has updated its HTCDev portal for unlocking bootloaders on select devices with support for the T-Mobile Sensation 4G and the Sprint HTC EVO 3D. The update unlocks the bootloaders on both devices, but will void their respective manufacturer warranties, essentially waiving support for the devices. By unlocking the bootloaders, owners will be able to further customize devices and run custom Android builds.
More devices are expected to be added to the support list for the service later this year. The official bootloader unlock service was opened earlier this summer after months of enthusiast pleas for an officially sanctioned method to unlock bootloaders in order to allow for custom software and more customization options outside of official channels.
