HTC has announced a new program for those customers in the US considering an upgrade to or purchasing the forthcoming HTC One M9 that takes a departure from the comprehensive coverage offered with the previous Advantage program that covered the previously released One M8, One Mini, and One Max.
The new insurance program, called “Uh-Oh Protection” will consist of HTC providing a free replacement phone if the first M9 suffers a broken screen, water damage, or a change in wireless carriers. The one-time replacement is available during the first 12 months of initial ownership and is the protection is available without customer intervention. M9 owners who do not take advantage of the Uh Oh Protection service at the end of the first 12 months will in turn receive a $100 credit towards the purchase of a future HTC One series handset.
The insurance and credit offer is available beginning next week on March 25th and runs until August 31st, according to the Terms and Conditions for the program and the one-time exchange requires either sending the damaged phone back to HTC for the exchange first after contacting the manufacturer, or placing a temporary hold on a credit card of $299 to expedite shipping.
