After only a combined 28 months on the market HTC’s One X and updated X+ will not be updated to Android KitKat, despite featuring hardware that could easily handle the update with the Sense overlays in use for each model.
HTC PR has sent the following statement to the media:
“We can confirm that the HTC One X and One X+ will not receive further Android OS updates beyond Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed both devices to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.”
The company earlier tweeted about the lack of a KitKat update when responding to a customer query on its UK Twitter account, which led to the above statement today:

The HTC One X began HTC’s attempts to drastically cut down its device lineup when it was first released in 2012 along with the rest of the One series, with the One S and One V rounding out the first lineup. The One X was also best known in the US for being a carrier exclusive with AT&T with below average sales, while the One X+ was a slightly upgraded variant with increased power and storage to address the biggest user complaints.
