As was done with the initial bootloader unlock announcement, HTC has confirmed on Facebook the first three devices that will receive updates that will unlock the bootloaders on those devices in order for enthusiasts to more easily load custom ROMs and other software variants onto the hardware. The worldwide version of the HTC Sensation will be updated first in August followed by the T-Mobile Sensation 4G variant and the Sprint EVO 3D shortly thereafter. HTC initially polled its customers on its Facebook page regarding which features they were more interested in on their Android smartphone lineup, with unlocked bootloaders being the most popular request. “We’re in the testing phase for the unlocking capability now, and we expect it to be fully operational by early September for devices that have received the software updates. We’ll continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as part of maintenance releases and new shipments.”
