HTC have announced the first devices in their future lineup that will run the forthcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.
The HTC Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2 represent a further refinement of the bespoke device lines with WVGA resolution displays, an upgraded version of TouchFLO, and Windows Mobile 6.1 with an upgrade to 6.5 once it is released.
The HTC Touch Pro2 will feature a3.6-inch display in a thinner design with adjustable tilting display and a new high-quality speakerphone implementation with two mics and two speakers for noise cancellation that is activated by turning the phone on its face. “Straight Talk” conferencing allows group emails to be converted to group calls and conference call calendar reminders to dial and login with one touch once the information is entered into the calendar.
The rest of the featureset consists of a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and video recorder, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi radio, GPS transceiver, accelerometer, and FM radio. The HTC Touch Diamond 2 will feature a 5.0 megapixel auto-focus camera, memory card slot, and larger 3.2-inch display on top of the above featureset as the Touch Pro2.
The Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2 will be available later in the year.
any timeline on release?? or who will carry them? I hope not 2010
I think they will be released by june of this year. Probabaly on Sprint and Verizon.
Two things that I can expect if Verizon gets their hands on it: First, they will butcher the design and specs ( like the current Touch Pro ) , and second, it will be pricey. All HTC models on VZW have been very expensive when compared to other WinMo smartphones.
Man that looks like an awesome phone. As usual, HTC left out a feature- the flash. Hopefully the USA version will have a flash. Other than that though- WOW! And they even included the tilting screen. That is the main reason I couldn’t part with my Tilt for the Fuze.
If they are saying it will get a free upgrade to WM 6.5 (HTC said that at MWC today) and WM 6.5 is due out sometime this year, this phone should probably be available with WM 6.1 sooner rather than later.
I’m excited for the Pro 2. I don’t want WM 6.5 though. I tried it out the other day and though it looks pretty, it is mostly worthless. I’d rather Have good old WM 6.1.
I’m sure the final version of WM 6.5 will be a lot better than the hybrid/hacked together betas that are out now. But I guess we won’t know for sure until the final version is released.
As much I like WinMo it’s time for a much needed refresh (6.5).
I GOT THE TOUCH PRO FOR X-MAS. ITS A GREAT PHONE. THE ONLY THING BAD ABOUT THE PHONE IS THE SCREEN. ITS WAY TO SMALL. NOW THAT THE TOUCH PRO2 IS COMMIMG OUT THIS SUMMER IM DEF SELLING MY OLD TOUCH PRO ON EBAY FOR A TOUCH PRO2.(KEPT BOX AND INSTRUCTIONS) I HOPE SPRINT IS THE FIRST TO HAVE IT. SPRINT NEEDS THESE TWO PHONES!
THIS PHONE LOOKES NICE AND I WILL PROBLY BE THE ONE TO BUY IT FROM HTC. BUT MY QUESTION IS DID THEY ADD THE STOCK TICKER?…… (AS SEEN IN THE HTC HD)
