HP has announced that it will launch the long-awaited HP TouchPad webOS tablet on July 1st in two versions: a 16 and 32GB model in select countries and territories beginning on July 1st. Pricing for the 16GB version is set at $499 while the 32GB version is $599 with pre-orders being opened on June 19th ahead of the launch date. Availability for the Touchpad has been set for Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, Sam’s Club, OfficeMax, Amazon.com, Fry’s, Microcenter and HP’s online stores.
The Touchpad features a 1.2GHz Qualcomm-based processor with an integrated Adreno 220 GPU, 512MB of DDR2 memory, 9.7-inch capacitive display at XGA (1024 x 768) resolution with an oleophobic (germ resistant) Gorilla Glass front, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and dual-band 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi radio.
Additionally, HP has also confirmed its first carrier-supported variant of the TouchPad being developed with AT&T which will launch later this Summer with pricing and availability yet to be determined.
