Helio this morning took the wraps off its new service, which they call Hybrid. Hybrid uses a combo of WiFi and EV-DO PC Card to offer bundled service. For $85/month, customers have access to a broad WiFi network, in addition to the Helio EV-DO network (running on Sprint’s EV-DO network).
Helio will be tapping Boingo for WiFi service, and Sierra Wireless’ AirCard 580 for hardware. The AirCard 580 lacks WiFi, requiring users to have WiFi either internally, or via a second PC Card.
