Google has updated its Maps navigation app with redesigned real-time traffic alerts ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. Now when you input your destination, you’ll get an explanation of upcoming traffic conditions that helps you identify the quickest route. Google Maps will also give you a warning if congestion lies ahead, and how long you’ll be stuck in a traffic jam if you can’t avoid it. You’ll also get alternate routes, including explanations for why an alternate route is recommended if and when available. The update is available now and is rolling out for Android.
