Google has announced sweeping changes to its sales model for the search giant’s foray into smart devices with the Nexus One after first launching the device in January to great fanfare. As a result of customer complaints regarding before and after sales service in the US centered around device trials before purchase and customer technical support, Google has decided to cease direct sales of its flagship device.
The company has instead decided to adopt its European model of partnering with retailers in order to sell through the device on a global scale in stores and shift focus away from the self-service nature of the web store and web-based customer support, while continuing to showcase Android devices from different carriers that represent the best of the platform.
Google has also reiterated its commitment to current Nexus One users regarding service and support.
good idea!!!!!! so if i pay for it i can take it home with me!!!!!!
I am sorry it took GOOGLE, so long to revise a mal model, hence costing it potential customers, still better late….
Thank You
