Sony Mobile has put some of its entry-level unlocked Android smartphones on sale in time for Cyber Monday, offering up to a 20% discount on the Xperia tipo line and the mid-range Xperia Miro.
The Xperia tipo series as sold on Sony Store feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 3.2-inch displays with 480 x 320 resolution; 3.2-megapixel cameras with recording; 800MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processors; and 1500mAh batteries. Other features of the Tipo/Tipo Dual include 2.5GB of on-board storage, support for 32GB microSD cards, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. Both devices have quad-band GSM/EDGE radios and can be used on AT&T’s 3G network with AT&T 3G support. The Tipo is on sale for $143.29 and dual-SIM capable tipo dual is on sale for $151.20.
While the Tipo dual is one of the very few Android ICS smartphones officially available in the US with dual SIM slots, the phone is best purchased as a cheap international travel device owing to the fact that dual SIM phones and compatible services are more common in parts of Europe and Asia, owing to the increased prepaid service competition leading to consumers choosing multiple services at once.
The Xperia Miro is a scaled down version of the 2011 Xperia line, with a 3.5-inch 320×480 resolution touch display, Android ICS, 2GB internal memory with microSD expansion slot, 5.0 megapixel camera with video capture and AT&T 3G support. It is currently on sale for $191.20. The sale runs until the end of the day.
