Verizon Wireless and mobile billing solutions provider Danal have announced today that Verizon Wireless plans to launch Danal’s BilltoMobile payment service later this spring. With the new service, interested Verizon Wireless customers will be able to charge online purchases of digital goods and services directly to their monthly phone bills.
The mobile payment service will feature a $25-per-month spending limit for purchases, along with content and parental controls for accounts in order to ease purchase and account management. When the service is made available, customers will be able to shop for approved virtual content and goods at online stores which include online game sites, social networks and virtual worlds.
To conduct a transaction using the BilltoMobile service, customers click on the BilltoMobile button during checkout at a participating online Web site and then input mobile numbers and mobile billing zip codes for subscriber authentication, with a text message sent to the requested mobile numbers with a one-time passcode.
Once the passcode is entered into the online checkout window, the transaction is completed. The entire process takes about 15 seconds, with no pre-registration or credit/bank accounts required.
