CTIA: ESPN Mobile Takes The Wraps Off Sanyo 9000 (Updated)

Update: ESPN Mobile will call the Sanyo 9000 the “MVP”, and it will be fully customized with ESPN branding in-software.

ESPN Mobile today announced their first phone, an EV-DO Sanyo unit which appears to be the Sanyo 9000. Multiple sources are reporting that this will be the same coloring and shell as the Sprint-branded version of the device, changing Sprint and ESPN logos.

On a related note, ESPN has ensured their rights to all NFL game footage on cellular phones, making Sprint and ESPN the exclusive carriers to provide mobile NFL video coverage (Sprint will carry key portions of ESPN NFL coverage through services such as Sprint TV as part of their MVNO agreement with ESPN Mobile). ESPN Mobile will launch their version of the Sanyo 9000, along with their service in February.
