Cricket has announced a new slate of plans as expected which include all taxes and fees while including data access up to a certain amount per month instead of offering unlimited access, up to 7.5GB per month. In a bid to imitate T-Mobile, once the data caps are reached for each respective allowance on each service plan, speeds will be throttled until the next billing cycle. This is meant as an alternative to charging overage fees or cutting data service.
Cricket has also announced the goal of launching 15 devices throughout the remainder of the year, with the BlackBerry Curve 8530, Kyocera Zio, the Cricket Crosswave Wi-Fi hotspot, and a pair of 3G USB modems. The Kyocera Zio has been delayed to September due to lower than expected pre-order sales of the BlackBerry Curve 8530, which will launch later this week.
Finally, Sprint and Cricket have announced a new wholesale agreement whereby the regional carrier will be allowed access to Sprint’s network for data roaming across the country for a period of five years, contingent on Cricket/Leap reaching certain revenue targets detailed in the agreement.
Could this be precussor to a purchase of Leap?
